Stewart A. Daniels, MD, was born and raised in Los Angeles. He graduated with dual degrees and with Honors and Distinction from Stanford University. As a medical student at the prestigious School of Medicine at the University of California at Los Angeles, Dr. Daniels received the merit-based Anna Bing Arnold Scholarship. He was elected to the Alpha Omega Alpha honor society. He pursued research and co-authored papers in the departments of ophthalmology, neurology, and psychology. While pursuing externships in ophthalmology at the Joslin Diabetes Center in Boston and Pacific Medical Center in San Francisco, he confirmed his fascination with the retina.

Dr. Daniels stayed in California for his graduate medical training. He completed his internship at Mercy Hospital in San Diego. He returned to Los Angeles for his Ophthalmology Residency and Vitreoretinal Fellowship at the Jules Stein Eye Institute at UCLA. He joined Bay Area Retina Associates in 1988.

Dr. Daniels is a member of the American Society of Retinal Specialists, the California Medical Association, the Alameda Contra Costa Medical Association, and the East Bay Ophthalmology Society. He is Board Certified by the American Board of Ophthalmology and is a fellow in the American Academy of Ophthalmology. He has served as the Chairman of the John Muir Medical Center Department of Ophthalmology. He is an assistant clinical professor at UCSF and California Pacific Medical Center. Dr. Daniels has spoken at several national and international meetings. He has published peer-reviewed articles on ophthalmic conditions. He has served as principal investigator and co-investigator on numerous clinical trials relating to medical and surgical retinal care, including the Diabetic Retinopathy Clinical Research Network. He has been recognized as one of the "top doctors" in the East Bay by his colleagues.
Aside from his passion for providing excellent, compassionate care for his patients, Dr. Daniels enjoys the fine dining found in the San Francisco Bay Area. This necessitates road cycling, hiking with his flat-coated retriever, and trail running through the beautiful East Bay hills. He has a keen interest in computer technology. He met his wife, a Boston native, while both were at Stanford. There he cooked and ran the kitchen of her dormitory. Their two daughters are on the East Coast pursuing their own degrees. The family enjoys travelling the world together.
Subhransu Ray, MD, PhD, completed his ophthalmology training at the Massachusetts Eye and Ear Infirmary at Harvard Medical School. Following residency, he was selected as the Chief Resident, appointed as the Director of Eye Trauma, and served as an Associate Chief of Ophthalmology at Harvard Medical School. His fellowship, in Diseases and Surgery of the Retina and Vitreous, was also at the Massachusetts Eye and Ear Infirmary. He has been awarded the prestigious Heed Ophthalmic Fellowship and the AOS-Knapp Foundation Awards. He has performed ocular research in the field of retinal neovascularization. He also holds a Ph.D. in Immunology. While at Bay Area Retina Associates, he has established multi-center clinical trials for wet Age-Related Macular Degeneration and is involved in developing new treatments for diabetes. Dr. Ray places great value in medical education and has lectured extensively in various topics of ophthalmology. His surgical interests are in diabetes, macular diseases, and ocular trauma.

Dr. Ray's education has taken him through Maryland, Chicago, New York, and Boston. Dr. Ray enjoys spending time with his wife, who is a nephrologist. He enjoys cooking, gardening, and playing basketball during his free time.
Dr. Ting sees patients

T. Daniel Ting, MD, PhD, grew up on the West Coast (the west coast of Lake Michigan in Chicago). He received his Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of Chicago and then enrolled in the combined M.D./Ph.D. program at the University of Illinois. He decided on a career in ophthalmology and completed his residency training at the Cleveland Clinic Foundation where he also served as Chief Resident.

He completed his Vitreoretinal fellowship at the Duke University Eye Center where he was granted the Hornaday Fellow Award for excellence in teaching, clinical care, ethics, and research. During his fellowship, Dr. Ting was also awarded the prestigious Knapp Fellowship by the American Ophthalmological Society, as well as the Heed Fellowship by the Heed Ophthalmic Foundation.
Dr. Ting specializes in the latest techniques for the treatment of macular degeneration, diabetic retinopathy, retinal vascular disease, and retinal detachment. He is involved in several national clinical trials studying new treatments for diabetic retinopathy and retinal vascular disease. He has also published multiple scientific papers and book chapters on vision research.

Dr. Ting is married and has two sons and a dog. He enjoys traveling with his family, computers, and woodworking. He is also passionate about football and was a starting player as a freshman on the University of Chicago football team, home of the first Heisman Trophy winner. His bid to return the Heisman trophy to his alma mater was derailed as he played the unglamorous position of defensive lineman.

Tushar M. Ranchod, MD, grew up in the San Francisco Bay Area and completed his undergraduate studies at Stanford University and medical school at the University of California, San Francisco. Dr. Ranchod received his ophthalmology residency training at the University of Pennsylvania's Scheie Eye Institute with a subsequent fellowship in Vitreoretinal Surgery and Disease at William Beaumont Hospital in Royal Oak, Michigan.

Dr. Ranchod has published numerous research papers and book chapters on age-related macular degeneration, diabetic retinopathy, retinal laser procedures, vitreoretinal physiology, familial exudative vitreoretinopathy, and current techniques in retinal surgery. He has a special interest in the innovation of surgical instruments to facilitate intraocular retinal procedures. Dr. Ranchod founded BroadSpot Imaging Corporation, a retinal imaging startup that he led as CEO and later as Chairman of the Board until the technology was acquired in 2021.

Dr. Ranchod has given talks at national and international meetings and received the prestigious Ronald G. Michels Fellowship award. He is an Assistant Editor for RETINA, the leading scientific journal in the field of vitreoretinal surgery and disease. Dr. Ranchod is board certified by the American Board of Ophthalmology. Dr. Ranchod is a member of the American Society of Retinal Specialists, the American Academy of Ophthalmology, the California Medical Association, and the Alameda-Contra Costa Medical Association. His non-medical interests include cooking and poetry.

Dr. Goldberg sees patients in the following offices:
Roger A. Goldberg, MD, MBA, a native of Boston, graduated from both college and medical school at Yale University. He completed his residency in Miami at the Bascom Palmer Eye Institute, the nation’s top eye hospital and residency-training program. He returned to Boston for a fellowship in Vitreoretinal Diseases and Surgery at Tufts and Ophthalmic Consultants of Boston. Dr. Goldberg is board certified by the American Board of Ophthalmology and is an active member of the American Society of Retinal Specialists, the Retina Society, and the American Academy of Ophthalmology.
Dr. Goldberg has published numerous research manuscripts and book chapters, including first-author publications in The New England Journal of Medicine, Ophthalmology, JAMA Ophthalmology, and American Journal of Ophthalmology. He serves as a Reviewer for Ophthalmology, AJO and Retina, and lectures at national and international meetings. He has been an investigator in over 30 clinical trials for age-related macular degeneration, retinal vein occlusion, and diabetic retinopathy, among others. His surgical interests include macular surgery, complex retinal detachment repair and complications of cataract surgery.
Between college and medical school, Dr. Goldberg spent a year as a Rotary Scholar at the University of Leiden, The Netherlands, and then worked as a healthcare consultant at McKinsey & Co. In addition to his medical training, Dr. Goldberg received an MBA from Yale and co-founded an ophthalmic startup.
Though loyal to his Boston sports teams, Dr. Goldberg is an enthusiastic transplant to the Bay Area, where he enjoys spending time outdoors with his wife and three children.

Caesar K. Luo, MD, FACS, grew up in the Philadelphia area and attended the University of Rochester for college and medical school as a Rochester Early Medical Scholar, graduating from the School of Medicine with a Distinction in Community Service. As the child of an ophthalmologist, his fascination with ophthalmology and the retina only grew while at the University of Rochester, co-authoring in retina and neuro-ophthalmology. Dr. Luo then returned to Philadelphia to complete an internship at Albert Einstein Medical Center, followed by his ophthalmology residency at Wills Eye Hospital where he served as Co-Chief Resident. He then completed his training with a vitreoretinal fellowship with Associated Retinal Consultants, William Beaumont Hospital in Royal Oak, Michigan.
Dr. Luo is board certified by the American Board of Ophthalmology, and serves as an American Board of Ophthalmology Examiner. Dr. Luo is an active member of the American Academy of Ophthalmology, Association for Research in Vision and Ophthalmology, Asia-Pacific Academy of Ophthalmology, American Society of Retina Specialists and is an inaugural Fellow of the American Society of Retina Specialists. He is also a Fellow of the American College of Surgeons, and a Fellow of the College of Physicians of Philadelphia.
Dr. Luo has published numerous peer-reviewed research articles and book chapters with a particular interest in innovative vitreoretinal surgery and diabetic eye disease. He serves as an editor for Retina and Ophthalmology and lectures at local and international meetings. Dr. Luo has a strong interest in cutting-edge research serving as an investigator for multiple clinical trials in both medical and surgical retina. He also co-founded and serves as Chief Technology Officer for Lynthera Corporation, an ophthalmology startup focused on sustained drug delivery systems.
In addition to his medical training, Dr. Luo studied classical piano performance at the Eastman School of Music and now enjoys performing for his partner and three children. He lives in the Montclair area and while he revels in the wonders of the Bay Area, his dedication to Philadelphia sports teams is unwavering. Dr. Luo also enjoys being a dad, international travel, obstacle course racing, soccer, and downhill skiing.

Elizabeth D. Marlow, MD, was born and raised in Tacoma, Washington. She graduated from Wellesley College with honors in Neuroscience, obtained her medical degree at New York University, and finished her ophthalmology residency at Weill Cornell Medical Center / New York Presbyterian Hospital in Manhattan. During her residency, she served as Chief Resident and was awarded the Resident Research Award. Dr. Marlow completed her fellowship in vitreoretinal disease and surgery at Associated Retinal Consultants / William Beaumont Hospital in Royal Oak, Michigan. Dr. Marlow is Board Certified in Ophthalmology and is an active member of the American Academy of Ophthalmology, American Society of Retina Specialists and Association for Research in Vision and Ophthalmology.

Between college and medical school, Dr. Marlow spent two years at Harvard Medical School researching the application of stem cell technology to neurodegenerative disease, and she contributed to several publications in this field. During medical school, she spent time in Istanbul, Turkey engaged in translational research on motor proteins implicated in degenerative neuromuscular conditions. Dr. Marlow has authored numerous scientific publications and textbook chapters on ocular and vitreoretinal diseases such as pediatric vitreoretinopathies, macular holes, and macular degeneration. She has presented novel research at national meetings and served as a co-investigator in clinical trials.
Dr. Marlow is thankful that her career improves patient health and quality of life. She enjoys building relationships with patients over time and emphasizes preventative care with consideration for each individual's unique needs. She treats a wide range of conditions, including diabetic eye disease, retinal tears, retinal detachments, macular degeneration, macular holes, complications from cataract surgery, and secondary intraocular lens placements.

After spending 16 years in Massachusetts and New York for education and training, Dr. Marlow is thrilled to return to the West Coast. She is grateful for the opportunity to deliver world-class retinal care for patients in the San Francisco Bay Area. In her free time, she enjoys exploring the outdoors, cooking, traveling, running, and spending time with friends and family.

Yingna Snowy Liu, MD, was born and raised in Shanghai, China. She is a highly accomplished ophthalmologist, specializing as a vitreo-retinal surgeon, who is deeply committed to providing the best possible care to her patients. She completed her undergraduate studies at Dartmouth College, followed by her medical education at Harvard Medical School. Driven by a passion for providing exceptional patient care, she pursued her residency at the renowned University of California, San Francisco. Dr. Liu is board certified by the American Board of Ophthalmology.
Eager to expand her expertise, Dr. Liu sought further specialization and completed a fellowship at Tufts/Ophthalmic Consultants of Boston. Fluent in English, Mandarin, and Shanghainese, she is dedicated to effectively communicating with diverse patient populations.

Beyond her professional pursuits, Dr. Liu enjoys an active lifestyle. She finds solace in practicing yoga, exploring nature through hiking, and discovering the wonders of the underwater world while snorkeling. Christianne A. Wa, MD, was born and raised in San Francisco, CA. As a high school senior, she was accepted into the combined Baccalaureate/ M.D. program at the University of Southern California. While earning her M.D. at the Keck School of Medicine of USC, she was inducted into the Order of Arête for her exemplary leadership. After her internship at Kaiser Permanente in San Francisco, Dr. Wa completed her ophthalmology residency at the University of Arizona. She then completed her fellowship in vitreoretinal disease and surgery at Associated Retinal Consultants, William Beaumont Hospital in Royal Oak, Michigan. Dr. Wa is board-certified by the American Board of Ophthalmology and is an active member of the American Academy of Ophthalmology, the American Society of Retina Specialists, and the Association for Research in Vision and Ophthalmology.
Dr. Wa has published numerous research publications and a book chapter related to her interests in surgical outcomes after retinal detachment repair, secondary intraocular lenses, and endophthalmitis. She has also presented novel research at national meetings and is a co-investigator in several clinical trials. Dr. Wa is passionate about saving vision and restoring the gift of sight. She is dedicated to ensuring the highest quality of treatment and providing exceptional patient-centered care by educating and empowering her patients.
Dr. Wa is absolutely thrilled to return home to the San Francisco Bay Area, after practicing in Sacramento. She is looking forward to serving her home community once again. In her free time, she enjoys traveling, skiing, live music, and cheering on her Warriors, Niners, Giants, and Trojans.
